Using up the skeins
I have quite a few one off skeins of yarn purchased purely because they looked pretty or felt nice or both. I need to get rid of them. So I have knitted some feather and fan scarves. The top one is made of pure silk hand dyed purchased from The Wool Room at Uralla. I have never knitted with pure silk before and found it quite rough at times with a tendency to break if pulled too hard. I still have about 100g left from the skein, I guess I will have to knit another scarf.
The one on the left looked so beautiful on the skein but I don't think it is as pretty knitted up. It is hand spun 8ply slub. Purchased from Misty Threads in Dorrigo. I don't really know why I purchased it I don't like knitting with slub, I still have quite a bit left so I guess I will just have to knit another scarf...woo hoo. The one on the right is baby alpaca and silk ....OMG it is the softest thing I have ever encountered. I purchased the yarn from The Black Sheep in Guyra but they had sourced the yarn from The Ardent Alpaca in Beechworth. I love that shop and spent a lot of time in there when I lived in Wangaratta. The ball was 100g with over 200g of yarn. Needless to say I still have some of that yarn left too. I will keep the pink alpaca scarf which will be perfect for the cold Armidale winter but the others I will give away.
