Miff frequently used to tell me how much he liked cardigans and how much he wanted one. So I purchased some yarn in the colour of his choice.....a cornflower sort of blue! Found a pattern, a very retro one, courtesy of my Auntie Margaret (who by the way is a fabulous knitter, crocheter, crafter, cook, gardener and of course lovely Auntie boot).
In May last year when Miff was across the ditch doing his familial duty I started the cardigan for his birthday in the August. The cardigan is quite big and has taken quite some time to knit but was finally finished in late July THIS YEAR in time for his August birthday. So he got the cardigan for his birthday this year only a year late. I am not overly fond of men in cardigans and it was such a big project, at times I wanted to just rip it back and make something else. However, I didn't because this is what he wanted a big, long cardigan with pockets.
We spent a week which included Miff's birthday in Queensland in the warm weather walking, eating, drinking and just relaxing. Here is Miff laying in bed the morning of his special day surrounded by his gifts.
