I no longer shop at the yarn shop in the town where I live because the women who owns it would have to be one of the biggest gossips I have ever encountered and uses the filthiest language IN THE SHOP IN FRONT OF THE WOOL!! I am not a prude but I don't want to hear about other peoples problems third hand nor do I want the proprietor of the shop to tell me her problems or share details of her sex life with me (yes sadly it is true she did that several times). So I decided I don't need yarn that much if this is how and where I have to get it. I solved the problem easily I DO NOT SHOP THERE.
So now I shop at the LYS in the small town 30 kilometres away which is a lovely shop and the owner is lovely. Miff and I went on Saturday and had a lovely breakfast and coffee at the cafe next door before perusing the LYS. I was the only customer, then another one came bought and went, then a friend of the owners arrived and they discussed that nights coming events and what each was bringing. About 20 minutes later I arrived at the counter with my purchases only to have them continue with their conversation and ignore me. I stood there waiting, finally my yarn was taken scanned, my money handed over and purchases packed up without even a word to me because their conversation kept going. Is it too much to ask to be the centre of attention for the 3 minutes it took to scan my wool, pack it and take my money (alot of money too)? To be sole focus for that small amount of time makes all the difference to the Customer. I do customer service for a living and know how crappy it can be but also know that most times it only takes a small amount of time and effort to make a customer fell good and want to come back again.
