Lately my chooks have taken to getting out of their run and lurking about the back yard with the dogs and the cat. Everyone seems to be getting along quite well. I went outside about 5pm to lock the girls up and they were no where to be found....I looked in the shed, behind the shed, in a corner on the deck, even in their wee house......not a chicken to be found. Then I realised the only place I hadn't looked was Cooper's kennel. Lo and behold the girls were making themselves comfortable in Coopers Kennel on his sheepskin! No wonder Cooper was anxious to get inside out of the cold! The girls were removed and Cooper is once again King of his castle.
I have had this birdbath in the garden for a long time now and couldn't work out why the birds weren't using it.....because Bean the cat would sit in it, unfortunately I haven't been quick enough to capture this on film. Recently I was outside and was watching the chooks following Cooper around to notice that Cooper was drinking from the birdbath. I have seen him do it several times since then. Is it any wonder the birds are staying away?
